Omule : Hi Ewa. Illustrations, photography, painting. Can you tell me about your daily tools?
Ewa : Most of the time I use my wacom tablet, everything is still drawn by hand – it just feels more comfortable. It can speeds up work and gives me more precision, especially in my projects, where I combine photography with illustration. However, I think, nothing can replace just a piece of paper and pencil! Buying tons of sketchbooks is my guilty pleasure. That’s why I also love to paint – preferably, oil on canvas. There’s magic in creative process, when you can touch it or smell it! Not really possible or the same with digital drawing. Also in photography, I used to develop pictures myself-it’s a pure magic – I’d love to get back to it!
Omule : What is your ideal creative environment like? Do you have any kind of creative patterns and routines?
Ewa : I like to keep everything tidy, so I can’t imagine working in a mess. I also need to work in peace and quiet just so I am able to focus 100%. I don’t pick up phones, I’m trying to not check social media – just go with the work flow and cut from the outside. When I start I have to finish, so sometimes I am working many hours in a row(not a good habit tho!). Beside that, it’s just great to have some extra space for imagination, that is actually the main and best part of my work. It’s also very important for me to get inspired – I love to bike and discover new places, or enjoy changes in the ones I know already. That gives me a boost.
Omule : Are you into tattoos? Do you have a favorite style? How about your favorite tattoo artists?
Ewa : I’m a huge fan of tattoos! I have a few myself and I tried tattooing(only for a try!) also some of my designs has been used for tattoos, which is crazy I think! I really appreciate, when someone wants to keep my drawings on their skin forever - That means a lot! I’m oldfashioned and the one and only style I love is oldschool. I love simplicity and classic oldschool patterns – it’s a great inspiration too. Panthers, roses and skulls – that what is all about. My favorite tattoo artist is Piotr Melnyczuk from Krakow’s ‘That’s all folks’ studio. I appreciate his style and clean work so much. My good friend Aneta Kwiecien (Opulent Ink, Wolverhampton, UK) is extremely talented. I can fully recommend her wok and I can’t wait to finally get something from her!
Omule : Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
Ewa : That’s a taught question, cause I think of too many people right now haha! Definitely Freddy Mercury, maybe I could just join his dinner party? That would be awesome!
Omule : Can you choose the perfect soundtrack for the best day ever?
Ewa : That would be definitely Gigi D’Agostino – ‘L’Amour Toujours’ or ‘The Riddle’! I looooveee Gigi D’Agostino ;)
Omule : Do you have favorite documentaries, movies or podcasts?
Ewa : I’ll start from the end, so! My favorite podcast is H3 Production podcast, which is hilarious and I just love to listen to it in the background, during work. Really cool documentary, or maybe the story that is about is ‘The Great Hip Hop Hoax’ – I won’t spoil, but it is a funny and a bit disquieting story, showing how easy is too manipulate people! My favorite movie is ‘Stardust’.
Omule : What superpower would you like to have and why? If you had the power, what would you forbid?
Ewa : Actually I’m not sure if that can be considered as a superpower, but I always wanted to be a mermaid! Some ninja skills would be awesome too. I wouldn’t say no to obvious extra skills like flying or disappearing.
